Liana Tyson holds the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music. She earned a Master of Music from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Music from The University of Alabama. Until 2004, she was associate professor of flute and music theory at Boise State University where she was a founding member of the Idaho Flute Society. Tyson has also taught at The University of Alabama and in the Community Education Division of the Eastman School of Music. She is currently instructor of flute at Hendrix College. As a member of Imbaté she has performed in Ecuador at the Festival des Flautistas en la Mitad del Mundo and in Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt as part of the opening festivities for the new Library of Alexandria. She has also performed at the National Flute Convention. Her teachers include Bonita Boyd, Leone Buyse, and Sheryl Cohen. She has been a member of both the Tuscaloosa Symphony and the Boise Philharmonic Orchestra.
