Biography

Michael Lierly is an oil painter and college art instructor. He teaches drawing, painting, design, color theory, and other 2D and 3D studio art classes and art history at University of Central Arkansas and will begin at Hendrix College Fall 2025. He has formally taught at Cal State LA, Golden West, Chaffey, Mt. San Antonio, and Santa Ana Colleges all in Southern California.

 

Before a decade of teaching in CA he taught drawing, painting, design, and color Theory at Herron School of Art in Indianapolis, the University of Arkansas, Indiana University in Bloomington, and in Florence Italy with the I.U. Study Abroad Program. He received his BFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and His MFA in Painting from Indiana University in Bloomington IN.

 

He has a wife, Marian, and three kids Dino (16), Samson (3 yrs.), and Joni (two months).

 

 He has worked as a commission portrait painter, illustrator, and gallery artist in seven states and four countries. He currently lives in Little Rock, AR.
