Biography

Originally from St. Louis, Missouri, Dryden Wells is an active ceramic artist, designer, and educator.  He received his Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Ceramics from Texas Tech University (2008), and a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSED; K-12) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from Missouri State University (2004).  Most recently, Wells worked from 2019-2025 as an Instructional Technician at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis.  Prior to that, along with teaching ceramics at Missouri State University (2011-12) and the University of West Florida (2016-17), the majority of his time was spent at the Jingdezhen and Shanghai, China Pottery Workshops running a porcelain design studio, teaching in ceramic departments, and directing an international education center.  Wells is highly interested and passionate in craft, material studies and discovery through making.
