Arkansas Educational Television Network (our local PBS affiliate) and Hendrix College co-host monthly screenings of films from the PBS series Independent Lens. In cooperation with the Hendrix-Murphy Foundation and located in the Hendrix-Murphy House, these events also feature post-screening discussion with expert panelists and community members.
As part of the 2010-2011 "Comedy" theme, sponsored by the Hendrix-Murphy Foundation (click here for a schedule of related Comedy events), screenings of film comedies will be accompanied by refreshments and community discussion. Screenings include Modern Times (Chaplin, 1936; USA), The Awful Truth (McCarey, 1937; USA), Smiles of a Summer Night (Bergman, 1955; Sweden), and The Band's Visit (Kolirin, 2007; Israel).
