2018 Graduation FAQ

When is Commencement?  
Commencement 2018 is Saturday, May 12 at 9:00 a.m.

How can my student order graduation announcements? 
The announcements order form will be available from your CampusWeb. For more information call the bookstore at (501) 450-1228. Please allow six weeks for delivery.

When is the last day my student can order a cap and gown? 
The regalia order form will be available from your CampusWeb Checklist in mid-February. The final day to order regalia online will be March 16, after that point you will have to contact the Bookstore directly. For more information call the bookstore at (501) 450-1228.

When can my student pick up his or her cap and gown? 
Caps and gowns can be picked up in the bookstore the week before Commencement.

How can I order a class ring?
If your student would like a class ring, information is available in their CampusWeb Checklist.

When will students be notified if they are not eligible to participate in the ceremony? 
Students who fail to meet more than two degree requirements cannot participate. Students who cannot participate will be notified by Friday, May 11.

Students who have failed to satisfy two or fewer degree requirements may request permission from the Registrar to participate in the ceremony.

Students may not be allowed to participate due to misconduct or behavior not conforming to the standards of propriety congenial to the College's heritage and aims, as well as to the laws of the state and nation.

Students with unresolved accounts with the Business Office will not receive their diploma. The Business Office number is (501) 450-1333.

Where is the location of Commencement? 
Commencement will take place at the Wellness and Athletics Center in the Event Gymnasium.

How long is the Commencement ceremony? 
The procession of students begins on the campus at 9 a.m. and the ceremony usually ends by 11:30. After the ceremony families and graduates are invited to a reception in the Young-Wise Memorial Stadium Plaza.

Where is the reception? 
The reception will take place immediately following Commencement in the Young-Wise Memorial Stadium Plaza on the east side of the WAC. Rain location is in the WAC.

Do I need tickets for Commencement? 
Yes, seating in the Event Gymnasium is for ticket holders only. Tickets are not mailed to students or families. Graduating students are responsible for printing their tickets that will be emailed to them after the required Senior Meeting.  

How many tickets will each student receive? 
Every graduate may register for up to four (4) guaranteed tickets for the Event Gym seats. To collect their tickets students must confirm all graduation requirements and complete the mandatory post-graduate survey by May 1st. Tickets will be emailed as PDFs to the students on May 2nd. 

Students seeking additional tickets may request up to four (4) tickets from the pool of tickets that are unclaimed as of the beginning of May. The extra tickets are subject to availability and will be awarded by lottery. Extra tickets are not guaranteed. Additional viewing options are available.

    How does seating work?
    Seating is first come. Doors to the WAC will open at 7:30 a.m. for seating in the Event and Rec Gyms. For those who don't have tickets, the Ceremony will be telecast live in the Rec Gym, where seating is available. Students will process and recess through the Rec Gym. The telecast will also be online at

    Plan to arrive at the Wellness and Athletics Center Event Gymnasium by 8:30 a.m. Please add extra time to your trip to allow for traffic on campus and parking. Since it is a long morning, there is a vending machine in the WAC to buy snacks or you may bring food and drink into the lobby area only of the WAC. 

    Can we take photos and videos during the ceremony? 
    Members of the audience who wish to take photographs or video a degree candidate as he or she receives a diploma may approach the east end of the stage shortly before the name of the student is called. Faculty Marshals and security staff ask that all photographers from the audience limit themselves to one person per degree candidate and that they approach the stage from the east side of the gymnasium.

    A professional photographer will take a photo of each graduate and, at a later date, make commemorative pictures available.

    Who is the professional photographer, and what is his contact information?
    A professional photographer from Arkansas Candids will take photos of each student receiving their diploma. Contact Mrs. Lieblong at All graduates will be photographed and will be sent proofs with no obligation to purchase.

    What should I do if I have a guest who has special needs?

    Is there a special way to honor my graduate? 
    You can make a gift in honor of your graduate to the College. Parents and families who make a gift during the 2017-2018 academic year will be recognized by name only, along with their student, in the Commencement program. The last day to make a tribute gift to be included in the program is Monday, April 9, 2018. To make a gift in honor of your student, go to, or call toll-free (877) 208-8777.

    When must my student move out of student housing? 
    All graduates must be checked out of student housing by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 13. Learn more about the Residence Life closing information
