Dear Members of the Hendrix Community:
We are pleased to provide a brief update on Hendrix's presidential search. First,
we greatly appreciate your feedback, suggestions, and nominations of potential candidates
over the last several weeks. We wish to thank the many Hendrix students, faculty,
staff, administrators, alumni, and parents who attended the open campus meetings,
participated in the online survey, and sent us comments via the search website.
Our search consultants are following up on the suggestions and nominations that
have come to us from the Hendrix community and have also been reaching out to leaders
in higher education and in other fields to solicit their ideas and suggestions for
outstanding candidates who match Hendrix's desired criteria.
We are also gratified by the strong positive response to the Hendrix presidential
opportunity from those seeking to lead the College into its next chapter. Our search
consultants report that Hendrix's distinctive liberal arts mission and inclusive
campus community are generating great enthusiasm and interest among the potential
candidates with whom they have spoken. The candidate pool grows daily and includes
highly qualified individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and from across the
country. The search committee is hard at work reviewing the dossiers of these candidates
against the qualifications outlined in the
position prospectus,
and will continue this important work throughout the summer. During this process,
committee members will continue to rely heavily on your input and feedback. We remain
interested in your comments and suggestions, which can be shared via the
"Your Input" page on
this website.
A presidential search is a rare moment in the life of a college. As co-chairs,
we have been humbled by the thoughtfulness and integrity with which the search committee
is approaching this serious task. We feel optimistic about the progress of the search
to date and are on track for an announcement of Hendrix's 11th president before
the end of the calendar year.
Sincerely,
David Knight '71 and Randy Wilbourn '68
