Last year, Campus Kitty raised more than $25,000 in money and goods, providing for Bethlehem House, Pine Street Free Clinic, The Women's Shelter, Interfaith Clinic and many more. (See the list of charities we donate to here.) Campus Kitty has been a part of Hendrix College since 1949 as a non-profit organization that raises money for local charities.
Campus Kitty week is the culmination of a year of planning by the committee. It is a week-long series of events where an admission fee is charged. These proceeds go toward supporting local charities. Popular events during the week include Miss Hendrix, a drag show competition; the Martin/Veasey Auction, where students, faculty, and staff auction off goods and services to raise money; the KHDX Concert, where a big name act performs, and the Red Light Revue, a musical variety show highlighting student and faculty talent. In addition, the week includes a Homeless Vigil, which highlights the growing problem of homelessness in our community and also includes a canned food drive in the community.
In addition to Campus Kitty Week, the committee also hosts a fun run/walk in the fall and a holiday talent show.
