If These Bricks Could Talk podcast is
live! The first season of If These Bricks Could Talk, which began recording during the early days of the pandemic, featured retired faculty Alice Hines, Mark Sutherland, Chuck Chappell '64, Jay
McDaniel, Chris Spatz '62, and Nancy Fleming. (Special thanks to Drs. Chappell, McDaniel, and Sutherland for helping us work through early efforts at remote recording!) Season 1, Episode 1 dropped July 30, 2021.
For Season Two, each participating faculty member (Rosemary Henenberg, Ian King, Tom Goodwin, Garrett McAinsh, John Farthing, David Larson, and Mary Richardson) was interviewed by a different Hendrix alum (Werner Trieschmann '86, Kristin Putchinski '97, Laura MacDonald '09, Greg Eow '95, Barkley Thompson '95, Paul Bowen '78, and the Hon. Shawn Johnson '98, respectively). Listen here now, or wherever you get your podcasts.
Season Three dropped in the fall of 2022. Once again, each retired faculty member sat down with a different alum interviewer/conversation partner. Featured guests include Danny Grace (with Ashlie Atkinson '01), Karen Griebling (with Stephanie Smittle '03), Joyce Hardin (with Maureen McClung '01), Stella
Čapek (with Sunny Baker '09), Ralph McKenna (with Art Gillaspy '88), and Jane Harris (with Lindsay Baldwin Porter '05).
Season Four episodes were released in August and September 2023. Episodes include Jim Bruce (with Sarah Beth Estes '92); Hendrix-Murphy reflections from Rosemary Henenberg, Nell Doyle '71, and Sarah Engeler-Young '91; Jay Barth '87 (with Phineas Chapman '22); Joe Lombardi (with Lauren Fletcher Jones and Nick Jones, both '11); Richard Rolleigh (with Todd Tinsley '98); and a roundtable discussion with Hendrix Chaplains past and present (Revs. Rock Jones '80, Wayne Clark '84, J.J. Whitney '96, and Ellen Alston '82).
For future seasons, we
hope to include some of the memories from Hendrix alumni collected during the oral history project of the same name that was conducted in 2021.
