American Singer/Songwriter Dan Penn joined by keyboardist Bobby Emmons presented an intimate concert in Cabe Theatre. Penn’s career as a songwriter, engineer and producer staggers the imagination.  He is responsible for much of the output attributed to the Fame-Muscle Shoals hit factories of the 1960’s and 1970’s.  He wrote or co-wrote: Do Right Woman Do Right Man, I’m Your Puppet, You Left the Water Running, It Tears Me Up, and the best cheating song of all time, The Dark End of the Street.  He produced the Box Tops recordings.  Emmons played piano and organ in the original Bill Black Combo as a teenager.  He went on to play on several Elvis records following the ’68 comeback including Suspicious Minds as well as various Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson projects including the Highwaymen.  Penn’s live performances are rare as he chooses to remain in Nashville working on his many studio projects.  This concert was his first in Arkansas.
