Faculty General Information


Thank you for your interest in working with the Arkansas Governor’s School!  It is one of the most exciting educational experiences at the secondary-school level in the nation.  The AGS work experience is very demanding but it is also very enjoyable and very rewarding.  Our faculty members are special people who enjoy challenges and believe it is a privilege to help shape the lives of Arkansas’ best and brightest young people.

January 8, 2018 - Faculty Applications Due

Late January - Finalists will be Contacted for Interviews

Early April - Letters/Contracts Sent to Selected Faculty

June 6 to 9, 2018 - Orientation for Faculty

June 10, 2018 - Opening of AGS

July 3 to July 8, 2018 - Mid-Session Break

July 21, 2018 - Closing of AGS

Important Information:

  • Before you apply, please take a look at the Workplace Expectations.
  • Please consider the session dates and your availability.  There will be regular required events occurring during evenings and on weekends.
  • All personnel will be hired on salary with social security and income taxes withheld.  Salaries start at $3,600.00.  
  • Appointments are for a single summer session and there is no tenure.
  • All faculty are required to have a background screening.  Instructions for completing this screening will be provided if a faculty position is offered and accepted.
  • Room and board are provided for employees at no extra cost.  Please note that AGS has no control over Hendrix dorm rooms or storage spaces in the days before orientation and after the session.  For this reason, employees must make their own provision for housing and storage during those periods.
  • All faculty are hired on the recommendation of a committee formed by the Arkansas Department of Education.
