Sustainability at Hendrix

2009: A Green Odyssey

Hendrix College is helping its students study green, without spending much of their own. The Committee on Experiential Learning has allotted tens of thousands of dollars this year to support Odyssey projects about sustainability and environmental issues.

Green Cars, Green Initiatives

Hendrix College placed its first electric cars into service on campus – vehicles that are an environmentally-friendly alternative to gas powered vehicles utilized throughout the campus.

San Francisco Odyssey

Hendrix College student Matt Youngblood studies the creation of a food scrap composting program on his Odyssey trip to San Francisco.

Green Building Tour

More than two dozen college students in central Arkansas took part in the first Central Arkansas Collegiate Green Building tour, giving the students a first-hand look into some of the most eco-friendly building projects in central Arkansas.

The Village, CEO Profiled

Hendrix College Vice President and General Counsel J. Scott Schallhorn was featured in a newspaper series called "Front and Center," a product of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette’s River Valley and Ozarks edition.  The story appeared in the newspaper’s Sept. 14 edition.
