  • Restore the legacy. Renew the future.

We are excited to announce plans for a full renovation of Galloway Hall in preparation for the Hendrix sesquicentennial celebrations, preserving the beauty and character of Galloway Hall for generations to come.

We’re thrilled to share that Hendrix has received a $2 million challenge grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation to support the long-anticipated renovation of historic Galloway Hall — a beloved home to generations of Hendrix students since 1933.

This generous grant is a challenge — and we need our Hendrix alumni and friends to help us meet it! By raising an additional $2 million, we’ll unlock the Mabee Foundation’s support and launch a $12.5 million restoration campaign to preserve Galloway’s charm while updating it for generations to come.

Make your contribution to the Galloway legacy today! Every gift matters.

    The History of Galloway Hall

Galloway Hall, built in 1933, has been the cornerstone of residential life for women on the Hendrix College campus for nearly a century.

Named for and in honor of the former Galloway Women’s College, the three-story, Tudor Revival brick dormitory has played a significant role in the social and cultural lives of generations of Hendrix students.

From its earliest days, Galloway’s parlor, with its cozy fireplace and refined furnishings, served as a gathering place on campus and a beautiful backdrop for music recitals and social events.

While Galloway was often the venue of choice to host honored guests, wedding receptions, and club meetings, it was repurposed as a Red Cross Center during the second World War, providing space and opportunity for its residents to take an active role in national efforts.

Through the years, Galloway has remained an enduring symbol of Hendrix College’s commitment to fostering a tight-knit community of students and alumni. It continues to be a place where memories are made and life-long friendships are formed.

For many, the years spent in Galloway forge bonds that transcends time and facilitates a connection through shared experience that is cherished for life.
