Open Enrollment 2021

Open Enrollment for Benefits 1/1/2021 - 12/31/2021

This page is intended to provide basic information about the process of open enrollment and basic information about popular benefits. If you have additional questions or need further assistance please contact hr@hendrix.edu or call 501-450-1494.

ALL full-time benefits eligible employees need to complete one of the open enrollment options by the close of business 11/30/2020, unless you have made other arrangements with the Human Resources Office.

Covid-19 has complicated many aspects of our lives, and the Human Resources office has a number of additional tasks to deal with as we approach year end. Your timely completion of this process online is greatly appreciated to assist in the most accurate and efficient processing of your information possible.

At the bottom of this page you can choose to schedule an appointment with Bridgette Gray or Shawn Goicoechea. Either of us can assist you with open enrollment, but if you are retiring in 2021 and have medicare questions you should schedule your appointment with Bridgette.

Completing Open Enrollment Online

Log-in to your self-service portal at https://tpc.myisolved.com and click on the open enrollment link in the left-hand toolbar. If you do not plan to make any changes to your benefits click that iSolved link and get started - most of the information below is not essential to accomplish that.

We ask that all employees attempt to complete their open enrollment online this year. If you need assistance accessing iSolved or due to a technical issue during the process please email hr@hendrix.edu with your question or issue. Once you have completed the process, if you have further questions or need to change or enroll in one of the benefit plans listed below, please use the booking form at the bottom of this page to make an appointment (if you would like to consult on Teams please mention it in the note of your booking).  To be clear - even if you want to enroll in, change or drop a plan NOT accessible during the online process we would still like you to complete that process PRIOR to scheduling your appointment. That helps us greatly in tracking all benefits that don't require in-person activity, and allows us to better assist you during your appointment.

What you CAN’T add, change or drop online, and will need an appointment for (after completing the online process for all other benefits):

  • Unum Long Term Care or Whole Life
  • Aflac Cancer, Critical Illness, or Accident policies

You can complete only the online process, and do not need an appointment or to contact us to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Let us know you’re continuing coverage as-is (simply select those coverages again when completing the process)
  • Set/change your FSA Medical and Dependent Childcare pre-tax deduction amounts.
  • Set/change your HSA contribution amount.
  • Add or change coverage for dental, vision, health, or short-term disability insurance.
  • Add long-term disability insurance.
  • Drop any benefit.
  • Change your tax withholding and direct deposit (you can do this anytime of the year, but in case you are interested that is also available in iSolved). Now is also a good time to update your address and phone number in the system, if you have had any recent changes.

When enrolling in a new benefit in the iSolved system there are a couple benefits you will need to complete forms for. Links to those forms, which you can fill and submit during the process, will appear to the right of each benefit. Those items requiring a form are:

  • New long-term disability enrollments.
  • Changes in the coverage amount or beneficiary of life insurance
  • New enrollment in an FSA or HSA account (no form needed if you are just changing amounts but have had an account before)

If you change your TIAA (403b retirement) election you will need to complete and email the 403b salary deferral form ( here ) to hr@hendrix.edu

It is assumed that you wish to KEEP any benefit in which you are enrolled (eg. Unum Long-term Care) that does not appear in your open enrollment process due to system limitations.

Benefit Information

Retirement:  The IRS limit on employee contributions for 2021 is $19,500 (same as 2020). Those over 50 years of age are eligible to make catch-up contributions up to $6,500 per year for a total limit of $26,000.

Flexible Spending: For 2021 the maximum employee pretax contributions to an FSA medical account is $2,750.  There has been no change to the $5,000 (if married filing jointly) cap on (pre-tax) dependent childcare deductions.

Health Savings Accounts: Participants in the Qualified High Deductible plan are eligible to contribute to a Health Savings Account.  Maximum pre-tax contributions to a Health Savings Account (HSA) are $3,600 for someone electing employee only coverage or $7,200 for those electing employee plus one or more dependent. The maximum INCLUDES employer contributions. In 2021 Hendrix will match up to the first $250 an employee contributes to their HSA. Those over age 55 are also eligible to make additional 'catch-up' contributions up to $1,000.

Dental: Delta Dental premiums and coverage remain unchanged in 2021. Search providers here (choose "Delta Dental PPO Plus Premier"). View the coverage information brochure.

Vision: VSP premiums and coverage remain unchanged in 2021. Search a provider here.(Select "Signature" in the Doctor Network drop-down). Coverage information brochure.

Health: There are no changes to either health plan or their respective premiums for 2021.  Please review the broad overview and premiums (here). As a reminder, in the premium chart "SS/DS" = Support Staff & Dining Services; "A/F" = "Administrative Staff and Faculty; "SLT" = Senior Leadership.

As a reminder: Preventative health coverage improvements: Changes in IRS regulations in 2019 have enabled us to expand the prescription benefit (in 2020) of the Qualified High Deductible Plan to allow for coverage of certain preventative care items prior to meeting your deductible. Please see the list below for the items now available at a co-pay prior to meeting your deductible on the QHDHP plan. (These items were already covered, but QHDHP plan participants had to pay out-of-pocket for the cost until reaching their deductible prior to 2020. This information is just meant to serve as a helpful reminder of that change. For those on the Core plan these items remain covered at the co-pay amount associated with the specific item).  Additionally, several procedures have been added to the preventative care list for both plans, meaning they will be covered at 100%.  The list of recently added preventative care items is also found below.
