Hendrix to Host 2017 Festival of Winds Honor Band

CONWAY, Ark. (April 24, 2017) – Hendrix College will host the 2017 Festival of Winds Honor Band on Saturday, May 6.

The event brings 90 high school students to campus. The guest conductor for this year's festival is Dr. Jamal Duncan, Assistant Director of Bands of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, who will work with students from 26 different schools from across the state.

Participating schools include: Arkansas, Baptist Prep, Barton, Bentonville, Central Arkansas Christian, Clinton, Conway, Danville, Dover, Earle, England, Fountain Lake, Greenbrier, Hass Hall Academy, Hermitage, Jacksonville Lighthouse, Malvern, Marked Tree, Maumelle Charter, Mayflower, McGehee, Oark, Pangburn, Parkview Arts and Sciences, and Russellville.

The festival will conclude with a concert featuring the Hendrix College Wind Ensemble and the Festival of Winds Honor Band at 7:30 p.m. in Staples Auditorium.

The concert is free and open to the public.
