CONWAY, Ark. (March 1, 2017) — The Hendrix College Wind
Ensemble will present its Spring Concert titled "Give Us This Day" on
Monday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m,. in Staples Auditorium.
The program features the emotionally charged symphony for
band called Give Us This Day by
composer David Maslanka.
Also featured on the program will be guest saxophone artist,
Dr. Andy Wen, Associate Professor of Saxophone and Clarinet at the University
of Arkansas-Little Rock. Dr. Wen will be the soloist on Claude T. Smith's Fantasia for Alto Saxophone and Band.
Rounding out the program will be the Cajun fugue Bayou Breakdown by Brant Karrick; groove-oriented Meridian by Ola Gjeilo, which will
feature Professor of Music Dr. John Krebs on piano; and the epic final movement
of Ottorino Respighi's The Pines of Rome.
This event is sponsored by the Hendrix College Music
