Live Performance of Hendrix Music Professor’s Opera Released

P1050460CONWAY, Ark. (February 13, 2017) – A live performance recording of Hendrix College music professor and composer RIII CD cover Dr. Karen Griebling’s the third opera, "Richard III: A Crown of Roses, A Crown of Thorns," was released this month on Centaur Records

Hendrix musicians included on the recording include:

  • Dr. Andrew Morgan, baritone, Hendrix College choral conductor
  • Hannah Smashey ’15, mezzo soprano
  • Stephanie Smittle ’03, soprano
  • Timothy Allen, keyboard and repetiteur, Hendrix College organist
  • Kara Claybrook, soprano, adjunct music instructor 
  • Magdalena Ryszkowski, violin, adjunct music instructor 
  • Katherine Reynolds, viola, adjunct music instructor 
  • Brent Shires, horn, adjunct music instructor 
  • Barron Weir, bass, adjunct music instructor 

The recording was made at Christ Episcopal Church in Little Rock by members of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra and Opera in the Rock under the baton of Arkansas Symphony Associate Conductor, Geoffrey Robson. The live performance was recorded by Haynes Sound and the recording features a cover design by Musicalligraphics. Recording costs were supported, in part, by a faculty project grant.
