CONWAY, Ark. (September 6, 2016) – Hendrix College will host
the 2016
Meta-Analysis of Economics Research Network (MAER-Net) Colloquium
Thursday, Sept. 15 – Saturday, Sept. 17, in Worsham Hall of the Student Life
and Technology Center on the Hendrix campus. More than 60 researchers and
academics from around the world will present and participate.
“Meta-analysis is
the statistical analysis of previously reported empirical research,” explained Hendrix
economics professor Dr. Tom Stanley, a meta-analysis scholar. “It seeks to summarize and
explain the disparate empirical findings routinely reported in nearly any area
of economics, medicine and the social sciences. Meta-analysis provides
the statistical methods that can sort through the mountains of empirical
research in a systematic and rigorous manner, uncovering the central empirical realities
and policy implications.”
Meta-analytic techniques have been applied for decades in
health and medical research, and meta-analyses of economic policy have
increased exponentially over the past 20 years, Stanley added.

and opportunity” on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m., in Mills B in the Mills
