Hendrix to Host Political Scholar for Talk on Election and Political Extremism

Thomas MannCONWAY, Ark. (July 29, 2016) – Hendrix College will host “Political Extremism and the 2016 American Presidential Election,” a lecture by scholar and best-selling author Dr. Thomas Mann, on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m., in Mills A in the Mills Social Sciences Center.

One of the nation's top experts on elections and the increasing brinksmanship and gridlock in American politics, Dr. Mann is a resident scholar at the University of California at Berkeley's Institute of Governmental Studies and a senior fellow at The Brookings Institution

His latest book, It's Even Worse Than It Looks: How the American Constitutional System Collided with the New Politics of Extremism, co-authored with Norman Ornstein, is a New York Times bestseller.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the W. C. Buthman Endowed Visiting Scholar and Lectureship Program, the Hendrix College Department of Politics and International Relations, the James and Emily Bost Odyssey Professorship (held by Dr. Kiril Kolev), and the M.E. and Ima Graves Peace Distinguished Professorship (held by Dr. Jay Barth).
