CONWAY, Ark. (April 26, 2016) – Hendrix College President Bill Tsutsui has been appointed to the
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee.
“I am honored to represent NCAA Division III institutions and to work for a more inclusive environment for minority student-athletes,” said Tsutsui, whose two-year term will begin in September.
According to the NCAA, the Minority Opportunities and Interests Committee champions “the causes of ethnic minorities by fostering an inclusive environment, thereby creating a culture that promotes fair and equitable access to opportunities and resources” as it reviews issues related
to the interests of ethnic minority student-athletes, NCAA minority programs and NCAA policies that affect ethnic minorities.
The committee’s 18 members include current chancellors or presidents and student-athletes from each of the NCAA’s three divisions.
Hendrix, an NCAA Division III institution, has 21 varsity sports programs and competes in the
Southern Athletic Associationconference.
