Students Receive Arkansas Academy of Science Research Awards

CONWAY, Ark. (April 12, 2016) – Seventeen Hendrix students recently attended the 100th annual Arkansas Academy of Science conference hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

“The exciting aspect of the AAS conferences is that student researchers have a chance to present their science to an audience made up of faculty, professional scientists, graduate students, and other undergraduate students,” said Hendrix biology professor Dr. Ann Willyard, who served as the 2016 President of the Arkansas Academy of Science. “Being able to experience this level of scientific dialogue as an undergraduate student is very inspiring and really helps students to visualize science as a career path.”

Hendrix students was made possible by research mentoring from Biology Department faculty (Dr. Jennifer Dearolf, Dr. George Harper, Dr. Laura MacDonald, Dr. Maureen McClung, Dr. Matt Moran, and Dr. Ann Willyard), and by Dr. Jennifer Penner in the Psychology Department and Dr. Courtney Hatch in the Chemistry Department.
