CONWAY, Ark. (April 4, 2016) – The Hendrix Dance Ensemble
ended the year on April 1 and 2, with their Spring Dance Concert.
Amanda Ayers ’17, Kathryn Bolt ’18, Blake Cooper ’16, Brian Earles ’18, Grace Featherston ’19, Emily Harris ’19, Wesleigh Harrison ’17, Jess Hunter ’18, Emma Lacy ’19, Brianna LeBoeuf ’19, Erika Levy ’18, Kaersti McLellan ’19, Yasmin Newman ’18, Jennifer Norman ’19, Erin
Salter ’18, Joy Spence ’18, and Rachel Wells ’16 performed seven modern and contemporary dance pieces.
Amanda Ayers, Brian Earles, Wesleigh Harrison, Jess Hunter, and Rachel Wells choreographed dances for the concert. They each picked music, choreographed, and worked with a costume designer and lighting designer from the theater department for their dances. Brigitte
Rogers, chair of the Department of Theatre Arts and Dance, choreographed a piece for the entire Dance Ensemble. Seniors Blake Cooper and Rachel Wells collaborated with Rogers to choreograph a duet they performed to culminate their years with Dance Ensemble.
Cooper, a Biochemistry/Molecular Biology major who performed all four years with the Ensemble, will work as a Research Associate in the Biotech industry after graduation before attending Pharmacy School. “I am excited and nervous about
this show, as it is the last one of my college career.”
Wells, a Biology and German double major, also performed with the Dance Ensemble all four years and choreographed for the last three. “It is really cool to get to work with other members and watch how they make my choreography their own.” After Hendrix she will be a Ph.D. student at the University of Louisville, studying canopy ant ecology in the
tropics.
