Hendrix Announces New Four-Year Guarantee

2015_05_16_Commencement_10590168CONWAY, Ark. (March 10, 2016) – For prospective students, there’s one more reason to consider Hendrix College. They are even more likely to earn their undergraduate degree in four years.

The new Hendrix Four-Year Guarantee, approved by the Hendrix College Board of Trustees at its February board meeting, is simple for first-time freshman students. Just sign up for the program, choose a major and stick with it, continue as a full-time student with a full load of courses, and maintain the College’s standards of academic progress.

Students who sign up for the program and meet these criteria will graduate in four years. If students meet the Hendrix Four-Year Guarantee conditions and still do not graduate in eight semesters, Hendrix will credit students the tuition for any remaining Hendrix courses needed to complete their degree.

“When students earn their degree in four years, they save time and money,” said Hendrix President Bill Tsutsui. “Our average four-year graduation rate is more than twice the national average for public four-year institutions and more than three times the average at public four-year institutions in Arkansas.”

“That’s an important advantage we have, but it’s one that can get overlooked when you talk about the cost of college,” Tsutsui said. “The Hendrix Four-Year Guarantee gives peace of mind to students and their families. And we can do that at Hendrix because we know our low student-to-faculty ratio, small class sizes, intensive advising, and highly personalized approach helps our students finish their degree in four years.”

“When you put our high four-year graduation rate together with the amount of financial assistance we provide, that’s real savings for students and families,” he said, noting that 100 percent of Hendrix students receive financial assistance. “The sooner our students earn their degrees, the sooner they can get on with life, beginning their careers or heading off to graduate or professional school.”

For the past 10 years, Hendrix’s average four-year graduation rate is 63 percent, the highest in Arkansas, compared to 26 percent, the national average for public four-year institutions, and 18 percent at public four-year institutions in Arkansas.
