CONWAY,
Ark. (March 3, 2016) – The Hendrix College Department of Music will honor the
400th anniversary of William Shakespeare's death with "Shakespeare:
Songs, Sonnets, & Scenes" on Tuesday, March 8, at 7:30 p.m., in
Reves Recital Hall.
The interdisciplinary program will feature the Hendrix College Choir,
conducted by Dr. Andrew Morgan, along with actors
Brian Earles and Yasmin Newman, sopranos Kara Claybrook and Sarah Stankiewicz
Dailey, pianists Timothy Allen and Dr. John Krebs, and the Arkansas Shakespeare
Theatre’s Rebekah Scallet.
The performance will feature readings of monologues and
sonnets, 19th and 20th century art songs, and George Shearing's
"Songs and Sonnets," a set of jazz pieces for choir that feature
Shakespearean texts.
