Hendrix Students Participate in 2016 Arkansas Intercollegiate Band

CONWAY, Ark. (February 24, 2016) — Four members of the Hendrix College Wind Ensemble were chosen to participate in the Arkansas Intercollegiate Band (AIB).

Every year, the Arkansas Chapter of the College Band Directors National Association (CBNDA) brings together collegiate music students from across the state to perform in the AIB. They rehearse and perform at the Arkansas All-State Music Conference in Hot Springs.

The guest conductor for the 2016 AIB was renowned wind band pedagogue Dr. Stephen Peterson, the Director of Bands at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. Dr. Peterson rehearsed with the ensemble throughout the day on Thursday, Feb. 18, and the AIB performed its concert the next day.

Students were selected to the ensemble based on recommendations from their directors.  The four students were nominated to participate in AIB by Dr. Gretchen Renshaw, Hendrix Assistant Professor of Music and Wind Ensemble Conductor.

The students chosen to participate in AIB were:

  • Danielle Rosson ’18 of Cedarville, Arkansas, a Music and Psychology major
