Hendrix Announces Two New Associate Provosts

CONWAY, Ark. (January 7, 2016) – Hendrix College recently named two new Associate Provosts.

Templeton, Leslie - 20101007 - 09425077Psychology professor Dr. Leslie Templeton will be the new Associate Provost for Faculty Development.

“I'm so pleased to be able to continue the work I've loved most in my role as Area Chair, that of identifying and providing resources to an already excellent faculty as they continue to develop as teachers, researchers, and community members,” said Templeton, a 1991 Hendrix graduate. Dr. Templeton joined the Hendrix faculty in 1998. “I'm looking forward to working with colleagues from across the College, and I plan to make use of those colleagues’ expertise as we work to provide the best education to our students.”

Gess, Peter - 20101007 - 15132841Politics professor Dr. Peter Gess, Director of the Hendrix Odyssey and International Programs, will be the Associate Provost for Engaged Learning.  

“I am honored to have been selected for this important role and I am humbled by the amazing foundation in engaged learning built by so many of my colleagues at Hendrix,” Gess said. “When I read the College’s new strategic plan, it is easy to become excited about creating new and deep engaged learning opportunities. I look forward to working as part of the Academic Affairs team, and with colleagues and community partners, to provide transformative experiences for our students.”

“We have such a talented and dedicated faculty on this campus, and I am looking forward to having all of us work together on the exciting initiatives we have before us,” said Hendrix Provost Dr. Terri Bonebright, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Psychology. “The expertise and dedication that the new Associate Provosts bring to the college is a huge asset as we move forward with continued excellence in our academic program.”

The new Associate Provosts will begin their new roles August 1.
