2015 Multicultural Expo

CONWAY, Ark. (March 20, 2015) – The Hendrix College Office of Multicultural Student Services will host the 2015 Multicultural Expo on Saturday, April 4, from 4 – 7 p.m., in the Student Life and Technology Center.

The Multicultural Expo includes food, fun and fellowship with students representing their culture or nationality by dressing in cultural attire, making a poster presentation of the culture or country they are representing, preparing a snack or appetizer from their culture for people to taste.

Multicultural Student Services invites students from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, University of Central Arkansas, Central Baptist College and Conway High School, as well as Hendrix students to participate in the event. This year, Galloway Hall residents will combine their Bollywood Night, featuring delicious Indian food, with the Multicultural Expo.

Ideas for students participating at this year’s event include:

  • Learn/teach a folk dance
  • Music from around the world
  • Dance performance/Singing/ Instruments - Allow people from audience to come share culture/perform
  • Around the world map or world languages map/game
  • Put a large map on the wall and people put their name/picture on a sticky note and place it on the map regarding where they are from.
  • Fashion show
  • Various cultural games 
  • Food tasting and facts or learning how to put together a quick snack
  • Scavenger hunt to learn about cultures - go from booth to booth getting clues
  • Creative Art that relates to culture (ex. henna, makeup)
  • Tutorials for certain clothes (ex. Hijab)
  • How to count or speak a phrase in the certain language
  • Guess the culture? Game
  • Face paint, balloons, prizes
