Grammy-Nominated Artist Sturgill Simpson Live at Hendrix

Sturgill SimpsonCONWAY, Ark. (January 28, 2015) – Hendrix College and the Oxford American magazine will present Atlantic Records recording artist Sturgill Simpson in concert Wednesday, April 29, at 8 p.m., in Staples Auditorium on the Hendrix campus.

The show, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by Hendrix College Student Activities, in partnership with the Oxford American magazine and KHDX 93.1, Hendrix’s student radio station. Nominated for a 2015 Grammy Award for Best Americana Album, Sturgill Simpson is changing the face of modern country music with songs that honor the genre’s past while, at the same time, paving the way for its future. His sophomore release “Metamodern Sounds in Country Music” has propelled Simpson into the national spotlight. The album, rooted in “outlaw” country, also draws from progressive rock influences like Beck and Radiohead. In 2014, Simpson made his television debut on The Late Show with David Letterman and Conan. Although the show is free, tickets are required for entry and are available for pick up at Village Books, the campus bookstore.
