CONWAY, Ark. (July 2, 2014) – Hendrix College is once again
among the top 300 colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada, and Great
Britain selected for the 2015 edition of the Fiske Guide to Colleges.
Compiled by former New
York Times education editor Edward B. Fiske, the guide examines a broad range of
subjects, including student body, academics, social life, financial aid, campus
setting, housing, food and extracurricular activities.
Among
the comments on Hendrix featured in the 2015 Fiske Guide are:
- “People
here are passionate, intelligent, and fun”
- “Hendrix
has a strong emphasis on international awareness”
- “Doing
well at Hendrix means keeping up with the workload … Thankfully, engaging
professors are available to help students navigate the coursework”
- “Sixty-five
percent of classes have 19 or fewer students, so personal attention is the norm”
- “At
Hendrix, undergraduate research takes priority, especially within the sciences,
and students get the chance to present original papers at regional and national
symposia.”
“We are so pleased for Hendrix to be selected for this
publication,” said Hendrix President Bill Tsutsui. “This recognition is
wonderful affirmation of the hard work of our faculty and staff and the unique
academic program and distinctive campus culture they’ve built at Hendrix.”
“Prospective students and their families today have a
myriad of resources available to assist them in making an informed decision on
where to go to college,” he added. “I hope that the prospective students who
read about Hendrix in this publication will visit campus and experience Hendrix
firsthand, because there’s nothing like it.”
