CONWAY, Ark. (October
16, 2013) – The Crain-Mailing Center of Jewish Culture at Hendrix College will
host "The Middle East in Upheaval: Implications for Israel and the United
States,” a lecture by Dr. Daniel Pipes on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in Worsham
Hall in the Student Life and Technology Center.

Dr. Pipes is the
director of the Middle East Forum and Taube distinguished visiting fellow at
the Hoover Institution of Stanford University. The Wall Street Journal has called Pipes “an authoritative commentator
on the Middle East” and MSNBC describes him as one of the “best-known Mideast
policy luminaries.” His bi-weekly column appears regularly in the National Review and in newspapers around
the globe.
Pipes received
his A.B. and Ph.D. in history from Harvard University and spent six years studying
abroad, including three years in Egypt. He has taught at the University of
Chicago, Harvard University, the U.S. Naval War College, and Pepperdine
University. He served in various capacities in the U.S. government, including
two presidentially-appointed positions, vice chairman of the Fulbright Board of
Foreign Scholarships and board member of the U.S. Institute of Peace. He has
also been recognized as one of Harvard University’s 100 most influential living
graduates.
