Sharing Videos in your classroom and with remote students
Watch the video here
A streamed video is one that is shown from an online source,
such as youtube or a video on a news website. A Video file is one that you have
downloaded and is available to you even offline.
A streamed video is easier and more convenient; however, a
downloaded video can be better quality. In
teams when sharing a streamed video you are really doing double streaming.
Double you say? Yes, yes I do. It’s one your laptop first and then again out to
your students. Double streaming can reduce the quality of your video
You can use a video downloader like OBS or other software to
create video files out of youtube or other online videos

You will share content as you normally do when sharing your
screen. A good way to keep yourself from having to search for your files while
in class is to have it pulled up on your desktop screen (in this case screen
one) that way you can share the whole screen and not just a window you have to
find. Do remember to hide or close any sensitive information you wouldn’t want
the whole world to know about.

The biggest difference between just sharing your screen and sharing a video is the crucial “Include Computer Sound” otherwise you’ll be showing a silent film. You and I will definitely forget this, probably more than once.
But no worries, if you forget there is an added a safety net
of “include system audio” this can be found in a toolbar which, until you hover
over it is hidden. You can find it by navigating to the top of your shared
image and it should appear. This is also where you can stop sharing your screen
when you’re ready. Note the pushpin icon in the corner, if you want that toolbar
to stay visible you can select it and it will be pinned.

Once you have selected which screen or window you wish to
share it will be outlined in red. Note on the image that the computer speakers
are still muted but Teams will still play the audio for your shared content
to your remote participants and through
the owl for the local audience.

Your shared content will be show in room via the projector
which previously should have shown the screen featuring your remote students. Note
the thumbnail shows the video playing in the classroom. You can also minimize
this thumbnail so it doesn’t interfere with your presentation.
