In order to begin the process of creating your website, you must fill out a HelpDesk Service Request. Below you will find information on the specifics of the process.

A space is created for you on the hendrix.edu website in Ektron, our content management system inside of your department or program's folder, and you access, modify, and publish your content through our easy-to-use, Microsoft Word style web-based editor. We can also create a short URL for your website like http://www.hendrix.edu/YOUR_USERNAME. The content of your site is limited by our guidelines for the Hendrix College website, and appears within our approved templates. This means that for every page you produce, the following will already be created for you:

  • Global Navigation - The red strip of links at the top of each page that link to the major sections of the Hendrix website. This is the same on every page of the Hendrix website.
  • Header and Masthead - The Hendrix Logo on the top left, and the blue banner with your department's name in white. The Hendrix logo is the same on every page of the Hendrix website, but the masthead can be modified if a special template is made for your site. See Custom Template> below.
  • Footer - this is the College's contact information and the site search tool. This is the same on every page of the Hendrix website.
  • Menu Navigation - The menu that appears on the right side of your page. By default this is the menu of your department or program, but can be modified if a special template is made for your site. See Custom Templates below.

Custom Templates

If your site is more than one page, a template can be modified for you based on the College's current design guidelines. This can be as simple as changing the text on the masthead and creating a menu for you to more dramatic modifications.
