Artist Talk and Reception: “Anonymous Women” by Patty Carroll
Monday, March 4, 2019
Art Building A, 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Patty
Carroll is an internationally exhibited artist whose photographic series “Anonymous Women”
addresses domestic representation and the complicated, often obsessive behaviors
found within the home. The artist comments on the mania of
collecting, accumulating, and decorating a house and the role of women who care for such habitats.
Her subjects are the suburban caretakers who may become camouflaged or even
invisible within the perfection of an orderly home. These subliminal figures are
cloaked in drapery and obscured by domestic objects, creating a dark and
humorous game of hide-and-seek for viewers of the series. This exhibit runs through April 8. For more information, contact Professor Maxine Payne at payne@hendrix.edu or visit www.pattycarroll.com.
