    International Student Summer Institute

  • Who participates? International students with a TOEFL score between 75-93, an IELTS score of 6.0-6.5, or a Duolingo score of 100-114

    This five-week intensive program helps students attain the English language skills, critical thinking, and cultural context necessary to become engaged, contributing members of a liberal arts college. It features an innovative course, “The American Way of Life,” team-taught by Hendrix faculty, as well as individual tutorials, educational field trips, and service learning opportunities. In addition, students are paired with American roommates and local families to help them immerse in American culture, with additional support provided by the college’s Office of International Programs. Students arrive to campus on July 11th, and the program runs July 13th through August 14th, 2020 with an all-inclusive cost of $3,995 (tuition, fees, books, room and board, health insurance and airport pick-up). Students earn one credit toward graduation.

    Extended Orientation

    Who participates? All international students, regardless of English proficiency.

    This 6-day orientation helps prepare international students for the expectations of an American, small liberal arts college, with sessions on academic integrity, classroom expectations, cross-cultural communication with classmates and professors, as well as critical reading and essay writing skills. Students arrive on campus on August 11th, and the orientation runs from August 12th–August 17th, 2020.
