CONWAY, Ark. (April 19, 2012) - Five Hendrix College students will present their mathematics and computer science research this weekend at an annual symposium for students at Hendrix, the University of the South- Sewanee, and Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., where the program is held this year.
Students and their research include:
- Kaleigh Clary, a junior computer science major from Cabot, Ark., "A Comparison of Self-Organizing Map and Growing Neural Gas Network Performance in the Context of Handwriting Recognition"
- Hannah Flatau, a senior philosophy major from Austin, Texas, "The Mathematics of the Mind: Godelian Incompleteness and a priori Physicalism'
- Alex Koeppel, a senior computer science major from Dallas, Texas, "A System for the Identification of Speed Limit Signs"
- Luke Kressin, a senior mathematics major from Mountain Home, Ark., "The Properties of Border Strips on Ferrers Diagrams"
- Casey Wynn, a senior mathematics major from Barberton, Ohio, "Hypercyclic Operators in Hilbert Spaces"
Grace Trees, a sophomore mathematics major from Richmondville, N.Y.
The three participating institutions are members of the Associated Colleges of the South.
