World-renowned dance group at Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. (Jan. 10, 2008) – The Dallas Black Dance Theatre, a world-renowned dance performance group, will be performing at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Staples Auditorium on the Hendrix College campus. Admission is free. 

The Dallas Black Dance Theatre is a contemporary modern dance company that presents a mixed repertory of modern jazz, ethnic, and spiritual works by nationally and internationally known choreographers.

The vision of the Dallas Black Dance Theatre is to fulfill its mission through performance and educational programs that bridge cultures, reach diverse communities and encompass ever-expanding national audiences. The Theatre is currently celebrating its 32nd season as one of the continuously operating professional dance companies in the country.

Along with Hendrix Special Events, the presentation is supported by the Mid-America Arts Alliance with underwriting by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Arkansas Arts Council, and foundations, corporations and individuals throughout Arkansas, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Texas.

Hendrix, founded in 1876, is a selective, residential, undergraduate liberal arts college emphasizing experiential learning in a demanding yet supportive environment.
