Parking and Remodeling

Recommendations:

Remodel or enlarge existing buildings

  • Add on to each end of the Bailey Library.
  • Renovate Buhler Hall, replacing the blocked windows, and build an addition to the east.
  • Build an addition to Fausett Hall on the east of the current building.
  • Build a new facade on the east side of the Mills Center, expanding the space for faculty offices, and including a tower that could serve as a visual icon for the College.

Move parking and utilities to the west

  • Consolidate parking at the edges of campus, replacing several small parking lots with larger ones that make more efficient use of the space devoted to parking.
  • Replace the interior parking lots with new grass quadrangles, in particular in between the women's residence halls on the north side of campus and near Martin and Couch residence halls on the eastern edge of campus.
  • Use the Washington Street side of the campus, near the railroad tracks, as the utility zone, moving the Physical Plant, storage facilities and a large parking lot to this area.
