Technology Services HelpDesk

The Media Center

The Media Center is the branch of Technology Services that provides audio-visual, videoconference and/or recording support for classes and events on campus, as well as orientation and guidance in developing multimedia projects.  To plan and arrange for audio visual support for your upcoming events, please contact the Media Center.  To get help with all other kinds of technology connections, problems, upgrades, ideas, questions, concerns, etc., please contact HelpDesk and we'll respond to you promptly.

If you want the best event support Media Center can offer, here are a number of tips/requirements that will help us help you.

  • Any request needs to be submitted a minimum of 16 Business Hours (8-5 M-F) in advance. (Example: a Thursday morning request for a Monday night event=Yes; Thursday night request for Monday morning event=No.)
  • The more complex your event, the more advance notice is required. (Example, “DVD in a room with installed a/v” means less advance notice; “DVD, powerpoint, 3 microphones, videorecording, simulcast over the web” means way, way more advance notice) Basic rule: Contact the Media Center as soon as you make your Master Calendar request.
  • Speaking of: The Media Center is not integrated with the Master Calendar—do not assume the Media Center knows about your event just because it is on the Master Calendar.

When in the classroom, please call the HelpDesk, 1346, with questions or problems (including computer problems).  With Media Center and IT blended into Technology Services, the HelpDesk students can troubleshoot (and usually quickly resolve!) both "Media Center" and "IT" issues in the classroom.
