The Village at Hendrix is located in Conway, Arkansas, a city of 60,000 people (including American Idol Kris Allen) and the second-fastest growing city in Arkansas. With three institutions of higher learning, including Hendrix College, and local celebrations, Conway is truly a mix of the progressive and the picturesque. It is the kind of town where you can head downtown for shopping or enjoy watching the sunset at the lake.
Conway is at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains. Cadron Settlement Park is located just a few minutes northwest of Conway. With a view of the Arkansas River and several hiking trails, it is an ideal place to spend a spring day picnicking or canoeing with friends. Petit Jean Mountain State Park is located about 45 minutes from The Village to the north and offers activities like hiking the Cedar Falls trail. To the southwest is Pinnacle Mountain State Park which lends itself to the usual park activities along with a starlight concert series and guided wildlife hikes.
Approximately 30 miles south of The Village is Little Rock, the capital city. With 600,000 residents in greater Little Rock, the city is a great alternate to dine on five-star cuisine, take in regional theatre productions at the Arkansas Repertory Theater or pick up organic vegetables at the River Market.
A bit further away is Memphis, Tenn., to the northeast. Pack up the car and embark on a roadtrip to the land of the blues, barbecue and blue suede shoes. Concerts at the Pyramid and the annual Memphis In May Music and Barbeque Festival, as well as special historical exhibits like Czar: 400 years of Imperial Grandeur or Eternal Egypt can make for an exciting trip to the delta for entertainment and culture.
Missouri-based Panera Bread Co. will open in The Village at Hendrix next summer, becoming the first commercial tenant of our New Urbanist community. Panera operates full-service bakery-cafes that serve fresh meals throughout the day.
Southwestern Energy Company will begin construction of their $25 million, 100,000-square-foot regional headquarters this fall and serve as the anchor on the north side of The Village.
We are reclaiming and revitalizing the creek that winds through The Village property, so you can enjoy trails, outdoor classrooms and more.
