The Gazebo

Gazebo EventThe Gazebo is located on the grounds between Buhler Hall and Greene Chapel. It was constructed for the 1983 theatre production of "Tally's Folly." The set was so well built that it was dismantled and reconstructed as a permanent addition to the Hendrix campus. The gazebo is the site of the annual Hendrix Wind Ensemble Spring Picnic Concert.  It is a lovely place for outdoor weddings or receptions, weather permitting.

The Gazebo is available for weddings/receptions, when there are no conflicts with on-campus events.  The wedding party is responsible for renting chairs, etc., for use in the Gazebo area.  Hendrix College tables and chairs are not available for use for this area.

Reserving the Gazebo

In order to give priority to college and student events, reservations for weddings and/or receptions cannot be confirmed until 6 months prior to the wedding date.  The Wedding Coordinator can 'pencil you in' for a date up to a year in advance; however,  the date will not be confirmed until 6 months from the day.  The Facilities Reservation Contract will be sent to you 6 months before the proposed date, if it is still available at that time.  A reservation is confirmed once the Reservation Contract has been received and the deposit has been paid.  

Reservations for the Gazebo usually include 6 hours the day of the wedding, and 1 hour on the preceding evening for the rehearsal.  You will be able to reserve the Gazebo from 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. or 3:30 P.M. to 9:30 P.M.

Fees include a $150 security deposit, which will be refunded following the ceremony, provided the Gazebo and grounds are left clean and in good condition.

...In the event of rain...

Hulen Ballroom may be reserved as a back-up location for those planning an outdoor reception at the Gazebo, if it is available (not reserved for another event).   A $150 deposit is required to reserve the Ballroom, and should be sent in at the time of reserving of the Gazebo.  The Ballroom rental fee will not be collected for this reservation unless the Ballroom is actually used.

The wedding party will be responsible for providing chairs and tables for this last-minute use of the Ballroom.
