Credit Union Membership  

Hendrix College employees are entitled to a wide range of benefits. A number of the benefit programs – such as Social Security, worker’s compensation, state disability and unemployment insurance – cover all employees as required by law.

Eligibility for most benefits depends upon a variety of factors, including employee classification. You can find the details of many of these programs in separate written summaries. For more information, contact the Human Resources Department at hr@hendrix.edu or (501) 450-1494.

Staff Holiday and Summer Work Schedule

2009-2010 Staff Holiday Schedule

Administrative offices will have the option of changing to a schedule of regular office hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. during the summer break. Official dates of this schedule will be announced at a later date. Offices which move to this schedule will have a 45-minute lunch break. It may be necessary to vary work hours at times, depending upon the needs of the individual offices. Department heads have the authority to do so at their discretion.

Health Insurance

Hendrix College offers a medical insurance plan and bears a substantial cost of this plan for full-time employees and eligible dependents. Coverage is effective from the first day of employment. The employee can choose between two plans: The Core Plan and the High Deductible Plan.

The Core Plan
has a deductible of $300 Individual - $600 Family Aggregate and a $15 Co-Pay for all services rendered and billed by a Family Practice, General Practice, General Internal Medicine or Pediatrician who is in our network.

The High Deductible Plan
has a $750 deductible - $1200 Family Aggregate and a $30 Co-Pay for all services rendered and billed by a Family Practice, General Practice, General Internal Medicine or Pediatrician who is in our network.

The Prescription Plan has $5 co-pay for generic drugs, $25 for formulary and $45 for non-formulary drugs. The cost is shown below.

Hendrix College offers up to an annual $575 Wellness Credit  for each adult participant when you (and your spouse, if applicable) participate in the Engagement Health Program--a program to help you enjoy a better quality of life and save money.

Summary of Plan Document 

Life Insurance

The College provides the cost of 1 times your annual salary for a term life insurance policy for all full-time employees.

Vacation

The College provides paid vacation for eligible full-time, twelve month employees as follows: If the employee begins employment on or before the 15th of the month – vacation accrual is effective the month of hire. If the employee begins employment on or after the 16th on the month, vacation accrual begins the following month.

Sick Leave

All full-time, twelve month employees earn sick leave at the rate of one day per month, with a maximum accrual of 90 days. Payment for unused sick leave accruals is not allowed.

Retirement Plan: 403(b)

Employees are eligible to participate in the plan from the first day of employment. There is no vesting period – employees are 100% vested immediately. .

Less than 2 years of service: Full-time employees may contribute into a SRA retirement account on a voluntary basis on a tax-deferred basis within legal limits. Hendrix does not contribute anything until the employee’s second year anniversary.
2 thru 6 years service: As of May 1, 2009, Hendrix will contribute an amount equal to 2% of regular salary (excluding overtime) without regard to employee contribution into a RA retirement account. In addition, Hendrix will also match employee contributions, up to a maximum of 2% into the RA retirement account.
Greater than 6 years of service: Hendrix will contribute an amount equal to 8% of regular salary (excluding overtime) with no requirement for employee matching into a RA.  Employees may contribute into a SRA.

Dining Dollars

All full-time employees are awarded $100 in dining dollars each semester to be used in the cafeteria or campus center. This money is automatically applied to their ID card. Employees can add additional funds to their ID card by taking their ID to the business office window or online at www.hendrix.edu/onecard.

Jury Duty

Employees will receive regular schedule pay while serving.

Free Parking

Employees are issued parking stickers which allows them to park on campus in designated areas.

Health & Fitness Center Discount

All employees, spouses and dependent children living at home are given free membership to the Hendrix Wellness and Athletic Center (WAC).  Please visit the WAC for more details.

Discount rates to the Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center are available.  The joining fee will be waived for one month after date of hire.  Membership fee can be paid via payroll deduction.  You must have a letter from the HR office to take to Conway Regional Health & Fitness Center when you join.

Tuition Remission/Exchange Program

The College provides this benefit as an education benefit for employees and their dependents as recognition of its commitment to higher education. Benefits are provided at the discretion of the College and are subject to amendment or termination. Please see the Non-Faculty handbook for definition of eligible dependents. Employee’s dependents are eligible for tuition remissions according to the following schedule:

Less than 2 years of service: eligible dependents will receive a waiver of one-fourth of tuition
2 thru 4 years of service: eligible dependents will receive a waive of one-half of tuition
Greater than 5 years of service: eligible dependents will receive a waiver of full tuition.

Spouses and dependents must meet the admission requirements of Hendrix College and must maintain the continuing academic standards required of all students at the College.

Other Voluntary Benefits

Hendrix College has many benefits which are optional and available on a voluntary basis. These include long- and short-term disability plans, whole and term life insurances, long term care, dental, vision, cancer, critical illness and accident plans. Details about all of these plans will be provided during Orientation with Human Resources.
