Family Weekend 2008, Parent Association Meeting
Welcome to the Parent Association webpage! If you haven’t discovered already, Hendrix is a very special place. When we brought Matthew here last fall, we quickly discovered that the faculty and staff understand the college experience; they fully embrace the fact that classroom learning is only a part of the college educational experience. We are thoroughly enjoying seeing Matthew blossom into a successful college student while gaining confidence as he begins his journey into adulthood.
In addition to seeing our son quickly acclimate to the Hendrix experience, we found out that many of the parents we’ve talked with share the same emotions as us – being away from their child, wondering about the quality of the education at Hendrix, what kinds of influences will their child experience, the list goes on and on.
While we don’t yet know everything about the Hendrix Way, we do know that our son as well as your child will have a tremendous opportunity to explore life in a variety of ways, all in the framework of quality, compassion, and accountability. Hendrix offers:
- A highly qualified faculty that has “been there, done that”
- New apartments and wellness/fitness center
- The Odyssey program which is second to none in encouraging students to step outside their comfort zone to experience the richness of life and all it has to offer
- A bunch of other activities to keep your child engaged and give you reasons to come back on campus to see them
It was also quickly apparent that Hendrix understands parents. If your child is enrolled at Hendrix, you are automatically a member of the Parent Association. The benefits of membership are always evolving; Hendrix is small enough so that every parent can make a difference. We were so enamored by our exposure to the campus and its staff last fall that, by the end of Parent’s Weekend, we volunteered to chair the Parent’s Association this year.
You, too, can quickly become involved. There are many parent support needs, and there’s surely one that fits your specific talents and time availability. Here are some thoughts on ways you can help:
