Messages from the Coordinators
Congratulations and welcome to Hendrix! We're very excited to be the first to offer you greetings from the Orientation team. No doubt many of you have received our first mailing, a simple postcard meant to alert you to our presence and growing excitement. Our team has been working since January to bring you the best experience possible and we are not finished yet! This year, in an effort to accomodate your class size, we have added one brand new trip and revived another discontinued a few years ago. As you can imagine, planning for these two new ones and tweaking on the rest has been tedious at best, but totally worth it. We are very proud of the TWENTY trips we have put together for all of you and really hope you all have a great time. As you make your trip selections (not yet available) we would recommend you keeping an open mind with your choices. Although something familiar would be fun, we encourage you to broaden your horizons a bit and try something new! For example, many people often have expressed a desire to do some sort of volunteer work but never get the chance. We are happy to present you all with several of those options. Of course, we also have some laid-back city trips and rough-riding outdoors trips to satisfy any taste.

Well with so much information for you to absorb, we'll try to stop our ramblings. One last time we want you guys to know how very excited we are to have you coming in a few short months. Enjoy your summer--it is not going to be the same ever again.

2008 Orientation Coordinators

What is Orientation?
The Hendrix College Orientation Program is an experience that combines adventure, discovery, outreach, and education to instill a sense of belonging in new students. Orientation offers not only the practical information necessary for college life, but also imparts an important feeling of community. During Orientation, you will be challenged by new ideas, introduced to new concepts, and provided with support in making your transition to college life. This interesting week will include social events, group sessions, and a three-day trip.
The Orientation trip experience is unique to Hendrix and makes our orientation a distinct tradition. The trips provide a relaxed environment in which new students find Orientation leaders and faculty members willing to answer questions and alleviate concerns. Small groups of new students, accompanied by several upper-class students and faculty/staff members, will spend three days together on an entertaining and educational adventure.
Orientation 2008 will be August 19-25 for all first year students of Hendrix College.
