Hendrix on the move.
A Message from the President
Hendrix on the Move

The word is out.  The College’s progress toward its goal of being nationally recognized as a leader in engaged liberal arts and sciences education can be tracked in articles in The New York Times and broadcasts on National Public Radio.

Your Hendrix Odyssey: Engaging in Active Learning, a new curricular component that requires students to complete at least three experiential learning projects before graduation is providing unprecedented opportunities for student growth. A vibrant Odyssey grant program funds student and faculty projects and travel. Hendrix students and faculty engage the world through travel-study projects, study abroad and cross cultural experiences.

Recent steps forward include:

  • Opening a new Wellness and Athletics Center
  • Launching lacrosse and field hockey as NCAA Division III team sports.
  • Completely revising the curriculum
  • Introducing the Odyssey Program
  • Revising the campus master plan, projecting how the College might grow over the next 50 years
  • Building a new soccer field and track
  • Building new baseball and softball fields
  • Constructing a new student center that will open in Jan. 2010.
  • Increasing our comprehensive campaign goal of $100 million to support these new initiatives
  • Constructing new student apartments at The Corner or Front and Mill Streets
  • Beginning The Village at Hendrix, a mixed use residential and retail area, on 100 acres of undeveloped land the College owns directly across Harkrider Street.

Building on a 133-year tradition of excellence, Hendrix is moving into the 21st century on the cutting edge of American higher education. I encourage you to click on the links above and at the left and learn more about the many ways that Hendrix is on the move.
