Phi Beta Kappa elects members

CONWAY, Ark. – (May 5, 2009) The Hendrix College Beta chapter of Phi Beta Kappa elected 24 students to the society on April 24, 2009.

Founded in 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the nation’s oldest and largest academic honor society, with more than half a million members. It has chapters at 270 of the finest colleges and universities. The Society’s mission is to promote the liberal arts and sciences, to recognize academic excellence, and to foster freedom of thought and expression.

The 24 new members include:  Alana Buie, Rebecca Callahan, Sally Cunningham, Chelsea Cupp, Rachel DeCuir, Thomas Dornhoffer, Bethanie Edwards, Luke Erickson, Jordan Frazin, Beth Greaves, Alissa Hellie, Leah Horton, Adam Jacobs, Eric Joseph, Travis Kauffman, Leslie Levy, Kirby Martinez-Fonts, Lara Morrow, Joseph Mueller, Sarah Rhoads, Erica Siebrasse, Elizabeth Stevens, Justin Whorton, and Kelly Zalocusky.

Hendrix, founded in 1876, is a selective, residential, undergraduate liberal arts college emphasizing experiential learning in a demanding yet supportive environment. The college is among 165 colleges featured in the 2009 edition of the Princeton Review America’s Best Value Colleges. Hendrix has been affiliated with the United Methodist Church since 1884.
