Dressed to the Nines

Kevin PeekCONWAY, Ark. (April 17, 2009) – The Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra will present “Dressed to the Nines” on Monday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will be held in Reves Recital Hall on the Hendrix College campus. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call (501) 450-1249.

The performance will feature soloist Kevin Peek, 2009 Annual Concerto and Aria Competition winner. Peek, a physics major from Batesville, will perform Concerto in b minor for cello and orchestra, Opus 104 by Antonin Dvorak. He is the son of John and Mieko Peek of Batesville.

The program will also include:

  • Fingal’s Cave (The Hebrides) Overture, opus 26 in b minor by Felix Mendelssohn
  • Symphony #45 in f minor, The Farewell by Joseph Haydn
  • Concerto Grosso #1 in D for string orchestra and piano obbligato by Ernest Bloch

The Chamber Orchestra is conducted by Dr. Karen Griebling. A reception will follow the concert.

The concert is co-sponsored by the Hendrix College Department of Music and the Crain-Mailing Center of Jewish Culture in observance of Holocaust Remembrance Day. For more information on upcoming music events at Hendrix, visit www.hendrix.edu/music.
