The Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra

CellosThe Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra was formed in 1990. The group averages 25 musicians and performs repertoire from all style periods in the Classical tradition including the Family Weekend Concert in mid-October, the Fall Semester Concert in mid-November, Waltz Night in Hulen Ballroom in February, and the Annual Concerto Competition Concert in the Spring.

Members of the Hendrix community with appropriate musical background who play orchestral instruments are welcome to participate. The Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra rehearses Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays in Reves Recital Hall from 4:10 to 5:30 p.m. Detailed rehearsal schedules and personnel seating assignments are posted on the fire door at the head of the stairwell in the north wing of Trieschmann Fine Arts Building.

All members of the Hendrix community who are interested in participating in the Hendrix College Chamber Orchestra or taking private lessons on violin, viola, 'cello, or double bass should attend the Hendrix Chamber Orchestra and String Program Reception and Organizational Meeting at 4:10 p.m. in Trieschmann Gallery the first Wednesday of the Fall Semester. The first orchestra rehearsal is 4:10 p.m. on the first Thursday of the Fall Semester in Reves Recital Hall. Private lessons on stringed instruments will begin the following Monday.
