The Hendrix College Choir is open to all Hendrix students by audition. The Choir is an active performance group that rehearses four hours weekly.   For more information about the audition process or about the choir, please visit our FAQ page.

The Choir performs throughout the year. In the fall, we sing for Fall Family Weekend and for Founders Day. At the end of the semester, we present the traditional Candlelight Carol Service four times on campus before touring the service throughout Arkansas and the surrounding states. In 2008, we celebrated the forty-fourth anniversary of Candlelight and took it to Missouri United Methodist Church in Columbia, Missouri, and Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.

Projects during the spring semester 2009 included taking part in a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.  Our annual spring concert on campus included music by J. S. Bach, Franza Joseph Haydn, and Ralph Vaughan Williams as well as a performance of Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb.

Looking forward to the fall, plans include a performace of Borodin's Polovtsian Dances with the Conway Symphony Orchestra on October 10.  In April 2010, we will take part in a performance of Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in Little Rock.

Dr. Nancy Fleming, the Choir's director, has been a member of the music faculty at Hendrix since 1986. She received her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College, her M.M. from Westminster Choir College, and her D.M.A. from the University of Illinois.
