The Hendrix College Choir is open to all Hendrix students by audition. The Choir is an active performance group that rehearses four hours weekly. For more information, please visit our FAQ page.

The Choir performs throughout the year. In the fall, we sing for the Fall Family Weekend Convocation. At the end of the semester, we present the traditional Candlelight Carol Service four times on campus before touring the service throughout Arkansas and the surrounding states. In 2007, we celebrated the forty-third anniversary of Candlelight and took it to First United Methodist Church in Springdale, Arkansas, and Lakewood United Methodist Church in North Little Rock.

Projects during the spring semester 2008 included taking part in a performance of Puccini's Madame Butterfly with the ASO in April.  Also in April, the Choir, in collaboration with the Hendrix Dance Ensemble, presented an on-campus performance of Gian Carlo Menotti's charming madrigal fable, The Unicorn, the Gorgon, and the Manticore.

Looking forward to March 2009, the choir will take part in a performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra in Little Rock.

Dr. Nancy Fleming, the Choir's director, has been a member of the music faculty at Hendrix since 1986. She received her B.A. from Mount Holyoke College, her M.M. from Westminster Choir College, and her D.M.A. from the University of Illinois.
