Tax Appeal SCAM email

 Permanent link

A reminder to everyone that the type of email below is an attempt to get you to go to a web site that will attempt to install malicious software on your computer.

This type of Scam takes advantage of the curious side of people. Tax season is close, and any email you get about your taxes will peak your interest.  It may appear legit at first, but please note that the IRS will not contact you via email.

You should never open attachments or click on links in an email unless it is from someone you know and is something that you expect.

Also remember you should never respond to an email requesting passwords or other private information.

Your work computer should be protected with the antivirus software that is installed and automatically updated, but remember, if in doubt delete the email and do not open the attachment or follow the links.

Students should ensure their virus protection and antispyware software is up to date.

Thanks,

Sam Nichols
Director of Information Technology
