Hendrix Tops Forbes’ List of 25 Colleges with Generous Financial Aid

Hendrix considered “one of the most affordable schools in the country”

CONWAY, Ark. (August 29, 2023) — Hendrix College recently appeared at the top of Forbes’ list of 25 Private Colleges that Give Out Generous Financial Aid.

According to Forbes, private colleges are “rarely viewed as an affordable option in higher education,” but Hendrix “is considered one of the most affordable schools in the country” and is an example of “a private institution that goes the extra mile to make its education affordable.”

One of the factors cited by Forbes is the Tuition Advantage scholarship program.

New first-year students admitted to Hendrix College for the 2024-2025 academic year will now receive a Tuition Advantage scholarship automatically upon their admission to Hendrix. With this scholarship, students pay no more in tuition and fees than the published price for their home state’s public flagship institution.

“Students and families should not be confused or frustrated by a lack of clarity around cost,” said Hendrix College President Karen Petersen. “I know that we can and should do more to reassure students and families that a four-year education at Hendrix is affordable and valuable.”

Many students and families see added value in private residential colleges like Hendrix, but they may not apply because they assume it will cost much more than a public university, Petersen said.

“We hope Tuition Advantage will reduce uncertainty and anxiety in the application process by affirming for students and their families that a Hendrix education is within their reach,” she said.

Hendrix was named the #1 2024 Best Value College in Arkansas by Niche, an online college search guide. The College’s profile includes information about academics, admission and financial aid, campus life, engaged learning opportunities, graduation rates and graduate outcomes.

In other recent recognition news, Hendrix College appears in The Princeton Review’s 2024 Best Colleges: Region by Region, which highlights 630 colleges across seven zones (Northeast, South, Southwest, Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, West, and International) that the publication considers “academically outstanding” and “well worth consideration” for prospective students in the college search process.

Hendrix College is also rated among the “Best Colleges in America 2023” according to Money’s analysis of more than 700 four-year colleges, focusing on quality of education, affordability, and student outcomes.

Earlier this summer, Hendrix was one of 300 four-year colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom featured in the Fiske Guide to Colleges 2024
